Mr. John E. Larkin Sr. age 95 of Arab, AL passed away Thursday, September 19th, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family Mr. Larkin was born on July 8th, 1924 in Franklin County Tennessee to John Monroe and Elizabeth Damron Larkin. John proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy and retired from Redstone Arsenal and was a faithful member of First Methodist Church of Arab. He enjoyed woodworking as well as Alabama, Auburn, and Arab football. John was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Nicky Larkin; one daughter, Annette T. Larkin; three brothers, Thomas, Monroe, and Dave Larkin; and one sister, Iris Schultz. Mr. Larkin is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret Virginia Larkin; two sons, Gary W. Larkin (Ruth) and John Larkin Jr. (Lynn), both of Huntsville, Al; one daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Shumate (Jimmy) of Union Grove, AL; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday September 23rd, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Nicky James officiating with entombment to follow at Brookwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: John Larkin III, Joshua Shumate, Eddie Larkin, Dusty Larkin, Rick Lemke, and Kevin Schaeffer. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 23rd, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
