SIMS, James Lafayette, age 102, of Preble County, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1917 in Indiana. James was employed as a crane operator for AK Steel for 35 years retiring in 1977. Preceding him in death were his parents, Horace and Grace (Bowman) Sims; and his wife, Elsie Elam Sims in 1992. He is survived by two sons, Jim (Pam) Sims and Gene (Judy) Sims; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and extended family and friends. There will be a gathering for family and friends on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Randy Reed officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 7887 Washington Village Dr., Dayton, Ohio 45459. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
