Frances OraLee Baker, age 87, longtime resident of Imlay City, formerly of South Carolina, died Friday, September 13, 2019. She was born October 25, 1931 in Florence County, South Carolina, to Lory and Rebecca (Poston) Stone. Frances married Thurman John Baker on July 16, 1954 in Florence, South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Baker spent many wonderful years raising Standard Bred horses for Harness Racing… she loved horse races. Frances enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, time with her dog “Troy” (who she treated like family) and most of all time spent with family. Mrs. Baker is survived by her loving husband of 65 years: Thurman J. Baker of Imlay City; daughters: Gayle (Dan) Smith of Otisville, Rebecca (Wayne) Dittman of Midland and Wanda (Brian) Brown of Brown City; grandchildren: Sharron, Shannon, John, Jason, Jennifer and Cody; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: LaVerne “Thurman” Baker; her parents: Lory and Rebecca Stone; 1 sister; and 6 brothers. Visitation will be 10-11AM Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Frances’ funeral service will be 11:00AM Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the funeral home. Pastor Drew Jolly will officiate the service, burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Veteran’s Charity of your choice.
