Floyd Ray Belt, Sr. May 01, 1942 – September 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Floyd Ray Belt, Sr, 77, of McAlester, died Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Keith Kinnamon. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Whitworth, Doy Adams, Larry O’Daniels, James Vaughan, and Rickey Fender. Floyd was born on May 1, 1942 in McAlester to Floyd Franklin and Peggy Jean (Hefley) Belt. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1960 and then graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in education. Floyd married Judy Roberson on June 16, 1962 in Pittsburg. He taught school for one year at Medicine Park, 3 years at Bentley, and 27 years at Frink Chambers school where he taught 4th grade and was a coach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a member of the McAlester Masonic Lodge #96. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Peggy Belt and a sister: JoAlene Butler. He is survived by his wife: Judy of the home; sons: Floyd Belt, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Rogers, Arkansas, Lloyd Belt and wife, Kelli of McAlester; daughter: Jena Hodges of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Adam Belt and wife, Mandy of Lowell, Arkansas, Josiah Belt of Midland, Texas, Chase Hodges of Nashville, Tennessee, Noah Belt, Micah Belt, Addi Belt, all of McAlester, Chesed Belt of Rogers, Arkansas. Also great-grandchildren: Kinsey, Kalynn, Jordy, Emery, Jeslyn, Talia, Sayer, and Malachi; sister: Barbara Adams and husband, Doy of McAlester; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
