Bettle, 99, of Linden, NJ, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ, on Sunday, September 15th from 2-4 PM. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, September 16th, at the Funeral Home at 10:30 AM followed by Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. Gene was born in Rahway, NJ, and was a life long Linden resident. He was self employed and co-owner of B &B Automotive Repairs in Linden for 45 years retiring in 1990. Gene was in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Linden Post # 0102. Gene rebuilt a 1930 Model A Ford with his son and family. He was a member of the Watchung Valley Region of the Model A Restorers Club. Gene was involved with Troop # 34 Boy Scouts in Linden. He also enjoyed bowling, building model airplanes, gardening, and taking annual trips to Maine with his family. Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife of 75 years, Ruth J. (Bellows) Bettle and his parents, Helen Mae (Leonard) and Spurgeon G. Bettle. Surviving are his two loving children, Richard E. Bettle, and his wife Bobbi, and Barbara J. Pasquale, his 4 cherished grandchildren, Helen C. Rogers and her husband, Malcolm, Susan M. Jonas and her husband, Chris, Richard E. Bettle, Jr., and Thomas A. Pasquale and his wife, Denise, and one great granddaughter, Riley A. Pasquale. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.
