Arizona native Elizabeth “Betsy” Pierce, 69, left us all peacefully on July 19th, 2018. Betsy, along with her parents and two brothers, moved to Prescott as a teenager and lived in the city she loved for the rest of her life. She attended Northern Arizona University after graduating Prescott High School and taught in the Chino Valley School District until she began her own family. She took a most active role in community affairs, becoming a member of the Prescott Junior Woman’s Club, a 4-H Leader, an AYSO soccer coach, a Big Brothers and Sisters mentor, a PUSD school volunteer at the various schools her children attended, and a “cheer clown” at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. Betsy’s favorite activities included gardening, craft shows, and spending time at her family’s ranch. She was very generous, thoughtful, and always had a way of remembering the special days in the lives of her family and friends. The greatest joy for Betsy, however, was her grandchildren and seeing their beautiful smiles and laughter. She always had something special for them and they always provided the hugs that she cherished. Betsy is survived by her four children: Matt, Mandy, Michael, and Andrew; five precious grandchildren, two brothers, Mike and Steve, and many cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by her brother Gary and parents, Anna Beth and Delbert. Betsy’s passing leaves a large void in many a friendly circle and she will be missed If anyone wishes to honor the memory of Betsy, the family suggests making donations in her name to the Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters or Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary. Betsy always wanted to help the community and this would be a continuation of her philanthropy in her absence. The family would like to thank all those that reached out to Betsy and the family during this time. We would also like to add a special thank you to the Hampton Funeral Home for their assistance. The family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday September 29,2018 from 11:00-2:00pm at the Phippen Museum 4701 N. Hwy 89 Prescott, AZ.
