Hector Resendez Portales passed on into glory on September 24, 2019 surrounded by his family at home in Big Lake, Texas. He was born May 4, 1964 in Melchor Muzquiz de Zaragoza Coahuila, Mexico to Reynaldo and Estela Portales. He was one of 10 children and was raised in Big Lake after his parents and siblings fled Mexico in hopes of a better life. Hector remained there until his premature death on Tuesday. He attended Reagan County High School in Big Lake and graduated in 1984. He has three (3) beautiful children with his now ex-wife, Deborah Romero, of San Angelo, TX. Michael Anthony Portales (Brelinda) of Big Lake, TX, Emily Michelle Portales of Big Lake, TX and Hector Portales Jr of Granbury, TX, were the joys in his life as were his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren as well as driving around on his motorcycle. He had a good time playing washers and was very handy with landscaping and various other projects. His Father, Reynaldo Portales and his Brother, Arturo Portales, precede him in death. He is survived by his Mother, Estela, of Big Lake, his children and his Brothers: Oscar Portales (Mary) of Poteet, TX, Alvaro Portales (Idalia) of Big Lake, TX, Daniel Portales of Big Lake, TX, Reynaldo Portales Jr (Rosa) of Big Lake, TX and Ruben Portales (Audi) of New Braunfels, TX, his Sisters: Isabel Vaquera (Enrique) of Big Lake, TX, Sonia Ortiz (Pedro) of Big Lake, TX and Lidia Benites (Juan) of Poteet, TX. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Freddy, EbanyBel, Mark, Christian, Aylin and Anastacio (Tachito). Visitation will be held all day Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Shaffer Funeral Home’s Sherwood Way Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church in Big Lake Texas. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/ Sherwood Way.
