Edmund T. Alexander, age 91, of Solvay, passed away peacefully on September 16th with his loving family by his side. Edmund was born in Solvay to the late John and Frances (Zawieska) Aleksandrowicz on February 20, 1928. Edmund lived in Solvay all his life and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. He later attended Solvay Schools, where he met his wife of 68 years, Rose Cianci. Upon graduating high school he enlisted and served his country in the Army in WWII. Upon return, he enrolled in Lemoyne College and was an alumnus of their first graduating class. Edmund began his professional career in the early 1960’s at Royal Globe Insurance, then as an insurance broker with the Young Insurance Agency, concluding his career with Haylor, Freyer and Coon in 1998. Edmund was highly regarded and respected within the insurance industry throughout the region. His professional affiliations included: Independent Insurance Agents and Associated Builders and Contractors. He enjoyed sports, especially golf, which included memberships at Tuscarora and Bellevue Country Clubs. Mostly, Edmund enjoyed his family and friends, providing support, guidance, wisdom and direction. In addition to his wife Rose, Edmund is survived by his three children; Michael (Judith), Thomas (Susan) and Judith; grandchildren; Edmund (Trisha) Alexander, Jeannette (Michael) Towner and Kaylee Brown, great-grandchildren; Daniel and Derek Towner. The Alexander family would like to extend our gratitude to the Brookdale Fayetteville staff for their outstanding care of Edmund. Funeral services will be held 8:45 am Saturday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am at St. Marianne Cope Parish: St. Cecilia Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Marianne Cope Parish: St. Cecilia Church Food Pantry, 105 Stanton Ave, Solvay, NY 13209.
