Arlington Avenue, Lawton, Oklahoma with Rev. Dr. Willie B. Smith, Jr., pastor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Mission Mortuary and Memorial Park, Seaside, California. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Earl “The Pearl” or “Lou” Lewis, age 64, of Lawton, Oklahoma. A beloved father, devoted grandfather, entrepreneur and the Number One Eisenhower Eagles Softball Team fan. Earl graced us with his presence on Sunday, August 7, 1955 in Augsburg, Germany. Born to Thurman and Esther Mae Lewis, he is the third of seven siblings. On Sunday, September 22, 2019, Earl was called home to Glory while surrounded by family and friends. Many say that to know Earl is to love him and he leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship and memories for many throughout the Lawton community. Raised in Monterey, California, Earl attended schools on the Monterey Peninsula. In his professional career, Earl’s talents took him many places. He started his career at IBM and later joined the United States Army Air National Guard. In 1990, Earl was deployed to the Middle East for Operation Desert Storm. Upon his return to the States, Earl worked for Halliburton Energy, where he retired in 2008. After retirement, Earl enjoyed spending his time with friends and family, showing support to disabled veterans and attending his granddaughter’s sporting events. A staunch supporter of family, Earl is survived by his daughter Janelle (Shawnee) Lewis-Brown, his granddaughter Kennedy Marie Ellis, his companion of many years Saundra Smith and his best pup friend Gi Gi. All who reside in Lawton, Oklahoma. Earl leaves his siblings behind to cherish his memory: Thurman Lewis Jr. (Brenda) of Avondale, Arizona; Ethel Bailey of Marina, California; Geoffrey Lewis (Kirsten) of Sacramento, California; Cynthia Williams (Michael) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Cecilia (Cece) Hunley of Lawton, Oklahoma and Barbara Ann (Bebop) Hamilton (Willie) of Seaside, California. Earl also leaves behind three aunts: Millie Barrett, Leola Harrington, and Barbara Thompson (James) all of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Earl also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loved ones to cherish his memory. He is proceeded in death by his father, Thurman Lewis Sr.; mother, Esther Mae Harrington; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bailey and grandson Karim Earl Lewis.
