Mr. Douglas Franklin George, age 74, of Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away September 5, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Sherwood, Arkansas. Born October 23, 1944 in Wilmington, Ohio he was the son of the late Everett and Freda Garrison George. He was of the protestant faith and a US Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was also a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the American Legion Post 64 and the VFW. His hobbies included playing golf and duck hunting. He was a family man that loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Teddy, Terry, Mike and Bobby; three sisters, Sue Ann, Marilyn and Judy. Survivors include his wife, Cleta Hines George; one daughter, Debra Givhan (Victor) of Rockland, CA; one brother, Joe George (Donna) of Harveysburg, Ohio; three sisters, Carol Blankenship of Wilmington,Ohio, Maryannette Meadows (John) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Vicki McCarren (Denny) of Wilmington, Ohio; two sisters – in- law, Judy Coffee and Reta Hines; two grandchildren, Jacara and Jayden Givhan and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Heber Springs First Assembly of God Church with Brother Lee Brown officiating.
