Dorothy Louise Watkins Garbett of Thomasville, Georgia January 29, 1930 – September 4, 2019 Dorothy Louise Watkins Garbett, 89, of Thomasville, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church Sanctuary on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Marty Carnes officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Seth Harbin, Lewis Wooton, Jimmy Rayburn, Donnie Wallace, Phillip Wallace, Commander Tony Brown and Joel Carter. Mrs. Garbett was born on January 29, 1930 in Thomasville, GA to the late Teddy C. Watkins & Jessie Clark Watkins. She married William James “Billy” Garbett, Sr., on November 20, 1955 in Thomasville at First Baptist Church, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2019. They were married 64 years. She worked in Childcare at First Baptist Church where she was a member since birth. She was also a member of The Grace Life Group Sunday School class as well as the Young At Hearts Choir. She was an avid reader and loved taking trips to the Thomas County Public Library. She will be greatly missed by many. Survivors include, daughters, Kaye Garbett Harbin (Dr. Stacy Harbin) of Port St. Joe, FL, Ellen Marie Garbett, of Thomasville, son, William J. “Billy” Garbett, Jr. (Pam) of Cairo, GA, grandchildren, Hannah Harbin Brown (Commander Michael Anthony Brown), Amanda Harbin Wooton (Lewis Wooton), Lt. Commander Seth Harbin (Katy), Mary Blake Harbin Summerlin (Commander Mark Summerlin), Lance Corporal Lynwood Thompson, 7 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Peggy Benton of Thomasville. The family would like to thank her personal caregiver Shirley Avery as well as Westcare Home Health and Bethany Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Billy” Garbett, Sr., a daughter, Barbara Garbett and a great-grandson, Shepard Stacy.
