David J. Mitchell, 67, of Fairhaven, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 45 years to Claudia A. (Benac) Mitchell. Born in Boston, son of the late Robert D. and Nancy E. (Sinnott) Mitchell, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and a 1969 graduate of Fairhaven High School. David was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven. A graduate of Bristol Community College, David had worked at Fernandes Super Markets for 18 years prior to becoming a distributor for Archway Cookies. He also had worked at Pharmahealth Pharmacy and finally as a courier in the medical transport industry. Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting, taking bone fishing excursions to Belize and he also enjoyed watching all of the New England sports teams play. Most of all he looked forward to family dinners on Thursdays and Sundays when his children and grandchildren would come over. He is survived by his loving wife Claudia; a daughter, Kathryn Mitchell of Fairhaven; a son, Sean Mitchell and his wife Sharon and his children Harper and Jack of Fairhaven; a brother, Peter Mitchell of Rochester; three sisters, Diane Perry and Nancy Mitchell both of Fairhaven and Anita Villa of Acushnet; a sister in law, Kathleen Isaksen and her husband Nils, his best friend, of Fairhaven and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 25, 2019, from 4-7pm, in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. His funeral will be Thursday the 26th at 9:00am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dave’s name to St. Joseph’s Church.
