Dale A. Barnhard, age 80, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. He was born November 17, 1938 in Muskegon to Frederick and Clara “Helen” (Bromley) Barnhard and was a life resident. Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany from 1956-58 as a demolition specialist. On October 11, 1963, he married Linda J. Boltze in Muskegon and she survives him. Dale worked 31 years as a heavy equipment operator for Central Paper (formerly Sappi) mostly working 12-16 hour days to support his family and retired in 1995. In his retirement, Dale enjoyed golfing. Survivors include his wife, Linda Barnhard of Muskegon; 4 children, Tammy Barnhard of Fruitport; Jeffrey Barnhard of Englewood, FL, Randy (Brenda) Barnhard of North Muskegon, Traci (Brian) Wershem of Fruitport; 7 grandchildren, Heather, Dakota, Haley, Ryan, Connor, Jordan, Logan; and 1 sister, Maxine Boucher. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Robert, Warren, and Merle, and 4 sisters, Margaret, Leone, Donna and Joyce. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Tuesday. Interment will take place at Norton Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association.
