Clyde Chatham July 3, 1936 – September 27, 2019 Funeral services for Clyde Chatham will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Mr. Mark Wacasey will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Brushy Cemetery near Marquez. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Chatham passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at his residence in Marquez. He was born in Marquez on July 3, 1936, and lived in Marquez all of his life. Mr. Chatham worked as a ranch hand and repaired small engines on lawnmowers and did other mechanical work. He was a member of the Marquez Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief for twenty years. Mr. Chatham enjoyed community service and helping others and did so often. He took care of the grounds at Brushy Cemetery for many years. He was named “Citizen of the Year” in 2014 by the Marquez Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Chatham loved to deer hunt, fish, play dominoes, and raise a garden. He was a member of the Robinson Chapel Baptist Church in Marquez. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Woods of Marquez; eight children, Ricky Chatham of Houston, George Wilson of Crofton, Maryland, Ernest Wilson of Huntsville, Vannessa Jackson of Tomball, Nick Porch of Crockett, Tanya Martin of Marquez, Jason Woods of Michigan, and Vanessa Stokes of Richmond; numerous grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including one special nephew, Dillard Chatham, Jr. of Centerville; other relatives and friends. Mr. Chatham was preceded in death by his parents, James Chatham and Lena Young; four brothers, James Chatham, Latson Chatham, Dillard Chatham, Sr., and Luther Keeling; and two sisters, Curly Chatham and Cora Craig.
