Bobby Joe Houston was born on January 6, 1954, to Jonnie & Carrie Houston. He was born and raised in Sasser, Georgia. He was educated in the Terrell County School system. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served our country from 1972 until 1988, including fighting in the Vietnam era. During his enlistment in the service he married his high school sweetheart Janie Davis in 1975. He was honorably discharged and returned to his hometown. He served as chief of staff at Veterans in Christ (V.I.C. house) in Dublin, Georgia. After retirement he moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to enjoy time with his family. During his later years he enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Jonnie & Carrie Houston, brother William and sisters Jonnie Kate & Ida Pearl. He leaves to cherish in his memory wife of forty-four-years: Janie Houston; five children: Adonis, Tiffany, John, Kendre’ (Gregory) and baby girl Ganacia; eighteen Grandchildren and 3 Great- grandchildren. He also leaves brothers: Eddie, Johnny (Gloria); sister: Earlene Lewis; sister- in- law: Gladis; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other family and friends. favorite_border Donations Pledges
