She was born March 3, 1936 in Catawba County to Walter E. Smith Sr. and Jimmie Lucille Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman L. Powell, by her son sons Allen Powell and Steven Lewis Powell. She was retired from Broyhill Furniture and was a member of Thomas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dwayne Tutt officiating and the Rev. C.W. Lewis, Eulogist.
