Anna Muriel Pitts, born in Evansville on July 22, 1927 to the late Edward and Clara Elizabeth Steinmetz Flucks, passed away September 19, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Allen Pitts, in 2016. She is survived by her nephews, John Pitts of Nashville, Tennessee and Knox Pitts III of Boca Raton, Florida; great nephews, Jack Pitts and Ted Pitts, also of Nashville; several cousins and many faithful friends, one of whom, Linda Folz, must be specially mentioned here. Her devotion and quiet attention to Anna Muriel during her declining years has inspired all those who had the privilege of witnessing it. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a past President of St. Mary’s Medical Center Auxiliary, an active volunteer at St. Mary’s, a member of the Auxiliary Board, South Western Indiana Regional Council on Aging, a member of the Reitz Home Guild, Evansville Museum Guild, Scholarship Guild, Kappa Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority and Phi Lambda Theta. Anna Muriel earned her Bachelors’s degree from Evansville College and her Master’s Degree from George Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. She was a teacher for 45 years for Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation at Baker, Columbia and Harper Schools. She was an avid reader and loved antiques, music and needlework. Everyone will remember her for her love of St. Mary’s Hospital in gratitude for the loving care they provided for Anna Muriel and her late parents and husband. Visitation will be Friday, September 20, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M, with a memorial service at 6:00 P.M. at Zeimer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, 47714. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 613 Cherry St., Evansville, with Fr. Stephen Lintzenich officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 A.M. until Mass time. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
