William “Bill” P. Martin, 86 of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Vitas Hospice in Naples. Bill and Patty began visiting Bonita Springs in the late 1980’s before moving permanently in 2005 from Cape Cod, MA. He was born March 24, 1933 in Cambridge, MA the son of the late William A. and Eunice (Merluzzi) Martin. He attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA while working for the linen company his uncle managed. Bill then served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, Bill was in insurance and car sales. He did stints with the Merchant Marine and retired from The Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority. Bill had a lifelong passion for singing. He was a longtime soloist in The Bonita Village Band. He also sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs and The First United Methodist Church of Bonita Springs as a soloist in their choir. Bill enjoyed boating, spending time at the beach and working in the yard. Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Patricia “Patty” M. Martin; sons, Christopher (Rose) Martin of Waltham, MA, David (Gayle) Martin of Fort Fairfield, ME; and 2 granddaughters Christina and Lauren.
