Mrs. Wanda Ratteree Callahan, age 71, of Dallas, GA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. Mrs. Callahan was born on June 27, 1948, in Dallas, GA, to parents, the late Mr. Glen Ratteree and the late Mrs. Maudie White Ratteree. She was affectionately known as Mrs. Wanda by so many, she worked for several years at the Paulding Hospital caring for everyone. Mrs. Wanda got involved in the PTA at Union Elementary School and that lead her into becoming a para-pro for the Paulding County School System. She worked for many years in the school system caring for many children. She then decided it was time for her to go even further and she opened Mrs. Wanda’s Daycare on Scoggins Road and for many years she took care of and raised many children. Mrs. Wanda had two biological children, but she was “Mama” to thousands of kids throughout Paulding County. After closing the daycare, Mrs. Wanda got involved in the American Legion Post #111 where she was President of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. In that role they provided countless children with Christmas each year and she also provided a home cooked meal for all the senior citizens of Paulding County for Thanksgiving every year. She loved to be of service to her community and all who knew her. If she heard of a Veteran in need, she would drop everything and take care of that need in any way possible. She truly had a “Servants Heart”. Mrs. Wanda was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all of Paulding County. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mr. Wayne Callahan; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. David (Penny Callahan) Beam; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Dwayne (Angie) Callahan; grandchildren, Cody (Talor) Holland, Ryan (Brittany) Callahan, Rachel Baggett, Brandon Baggett and Alexis (Cody) Jacobson; great-grandchild, Little Miss Clara Jacobson and one great-grandchild on the way, Master Stetson Lane Callahan; brother, Mr. & Mrs. Tony (Joan) Ratteree. Many other beloved relatives and close friends also survive. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wanda was preceded in death by her siblings, Phil Ratteree, Otis “Big O” Ratteree, Ann Stoker, Dot Thaxton and Frances Taylor. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at 3 PM, in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow in the Yorkville Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockmart, GA. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 3, 2019, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
