Sylvester Avery Cheek, 80, of Austell passed away at home August 28, 2019. Visitation will be held Saturday August 31 from 5pm to 8pm at White Columns Chapel, Mableton, Ga and Service to be held at 1pm Sunday September 1, with Rev. Richard Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. Sylvester was born November 18, 1938 in Canon, Ga to John Benjamin “JB” and Gladys Gaines Cheek. Mr. Cheek known as Diddy, Pops, Granddaddy, Pawpaw and by many as “Syl” was an automotive body man by trade and a homebody. He went to Concord Baptist Church when he attended, but always said, you can have a relationship with God from anywhere. He loved his family and raised his family to love everybody. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Cheek of Bronwood, Ga; brothers, Bert Cheek and Sheaffer Cheek; sisters, Jean Etheridge, Barbara Buck, Janice Day and granddaughter, Jessica Rae Kirk. Surviving Sylvester are his loving wife, Cynthia Graham Cheek; daughter, Pamela and son-in-law, Ray Kirk of Temple, Ga, son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Shelia Cheek of White, Ga; three grandchildren, Laura, Jacqualyn and Christopher; two great grandchildren, Eli and Scarlett; brothers, John Cheek of Teague, TX and Steve Cheek of McDonough and sisters, Kathryn Cheek of Stockbridge and Marie Katan of Peachtree City. Mr. Cheek will be missed by all that loved him. The family request that family, friends and neighbors come join in a celebration of his life.
