Shirley Warholoski, 84, widow of Gus, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at David Place in David City. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS AND PLANTS: The family has requested memorials in care of the family for later designation. Shirley was born on January 4, 1935 to Glenn “Tommy” and Margaret (Honnen) Kenyon at Omaha, Nebraska. She received her teaching certificate upon graduation from high school and taught school for two years. On June 27, 1953, she married August “Gus” Warholoski at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Seven children were born to this union. Shirley was a homemaker, wife and mother, and as her children grew older, she went to work for several years as secretary at Aquinas High School. After leaving Aquinas, she went to work for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph, where she worked as a clerk for over 20 years. Shirley was member of St. Mary’s Church, PCCW, Guild, and Seminarian Club. She was also a member of the Northside Extension Club and Friends of the Library. She enjoyed playing Bridge, was an avid reader, spending many hours in the library. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities all throughout school. Shirley is survived by her children: Pam(David)Wright of Gretna, Thomas(Dolores)Warholoski of Albuquerque, NM, Vicki(Larry)Kirschner of Kearney, Teresa(Alan)Hromas of York, Ed(Cheryl)Warholoski of Ceresco and Alan(Wendi)Warholoski of Buena Vista, CO. 13 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Brother: Gary(Beverly)Kenyon of Hastings, and special cousins: Dean(Beth)Honnen of Lincoln and Karen Matthis of Kalispell, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gus in 2012, infant son, Michael, grandson, David Kirschner and great-grandson, Kanai Warholoski.
