Ruby Phillips, 71, of the Bee Log Community, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Cansie McIntosh Phillips. She was a former employee of Taylor Togs. Ruby enjoyed raising flowers and working in her garden. She was a member of Bee Log Baptist Church and attended Landmark Baptist Church. Surviving are her brother: Benny Phillips and wife, Geralvina; 2 nieces: Lesia Phillips and fiancé, Daniel Beam, of Green Mountain and Brooke Phillips and fiancé, Ryan Robinson, of Asheville; a cousin and special friend: Debbie King and husband, Brent, of Piney Hill; and, many other friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 7PM Wednesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Miller will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Thursday in the Watts Cemetery on Lotties Creek. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home to help with expenses.
