Roy Roberts, 88, of Connersville passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2019, at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis where he had been a patient since Thursday. One of eleven children of Elihu and Lydia Reed Roberts, Roy was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on March 6, 1931. He came to Connersville for employment in 1950, working for Rex Manufacturing and its successors for 38 years, retiring in 1988. On March 24, 1950, Roy married the former Anna Mae Baker in Blooming Grove. Mrs. Roberts survives. Roy was a member of Blooming Grove Family Worship Church and in his leisure time enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the guitar. Besides his wife of 69 years, Anna Mae Baker, survivors include two sons, Roger Dale Roberts and James Allen Roberts, both of Connersville; five grandchildren, Angie (Dave) Clark, Ann Miller, Rodney (Cindy) Roberts, Randy Roberts, James Allen, Jr. (Alisha) Roberts; seventeen grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Baker and Norma Jean Thomas, both of Booneville, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brian Christopher Roberts; eight siblings, Cecil Roberts, Elmer Roberts, David Roberts, Bessie Hornsby, Bert Bowling, Hattie Bowling, Myrtle Estes, and Chester Roberts. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
