Ronald’s Obituary Ronald Grant Durso, age 84, formerly of Marquand, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2019. He was born on Tuesday, August 28, 1934, the son of Carmen Joseph Durso and Stella Evelyn Durso (nee Gibbs). Ron is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Kay Durso (nee Dees); two children, Kevin G. Durso (wife, Deborah) and Khris G. Durso (wife, Meredith); one son-in-law, Greg Tracy; six grandchildren, Ryan Durso (wife, Kristy), Michael Durso, Alecia Gutridge (husband, Josh), Nicholas Durso, Matthew Tracy and Kristen Smith (husband, Brad); eleven great-grandchildren, Davalyn Durso, Reese Durso, Timothy Durso, Olivia Durso, John Durso, Finn Durso, Lincoln Durso, Dylan Moss, Aiden Moss, Madison Gutridge and Elijah Durso; three sisters, Sharon Norton, Daina Rudanovich (husband, Dennis) and Delma Lorella (husband, Roy); several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Carmen Joseph (wife, Carmen Ford-Rudanovich) Durso; mother, Stella Lux; and one daughter, Karen Tracy. Ron honorably served our country in the Marine Corps. He held a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Mississippi, “Ole Miss”. Immediately out of college he was a high school math and science teacher. He then worked as a systems engineer for IBM for 25 years and retired in 1991. He enjoyed sailing, especially the U.S. Virgin Islands, off the coast of Florida and locally at Carlyle Lake in Illinois. He was a member of the Power Squadron, a sailing club in Florida. He also liked to fish (stalked small mouth bass) and was a “Vintner” or wine maker. He personally had many other interests and hobbies that he dabbled in over the years; horse owner (rode Ranger to Pine Union School), sour dough bread maker (& seller), entrepreneur of self motivation tapes, horticulturist, car mechanic, RV operator, basketball coach, mountain climber (Mount Fuji), frisbee player, electronics builder and programmer, game software builder, runner, camper, and above all else; an Expert Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and mentor/friend to literally hundreds of people. He will always be remembered and missed by his family and friends. Services: Funeral Service along with Military Honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, August 30 at 12:30 p.m. (Family and friends need to arrive at the cemetery by 12:15 p.m. and park their vehicles in the parking lot behind the administration building located just inside the cemetery’s front gate.)
