Robert E. Schlax Jr., 64, passed away August 25, 2019 at Overland Park Regional Hospital due to injuries sustained from a fall earlier in the week. He was born in Horton KS on April 3, 1955, the son of Roger and Jeanne (Frakes) Schlax. On January 21, 1978 he married Kathy Smith of Everest. Together they had three sons, Michael, Adam and Lukas. They later divorced. Roger was a stone and brick mason by trade his entire life. He loved fishing and hunting, spending time on his boat at the lake, mushroom hunting and motorcycles. He is survived by his partner, Laura McNaughten of the home; mother Jeanne Schlax Hickman of Shawnee, KS; sons, Michael Schlax of Cuba, MO, Adam Schlax (Lauren) of Gardner, KS, and Lukas Schlax of Olathe, KS; one grandchild, Nathan A. Schlax; and sisters Rogena (George) Ramirez of Shawnee, KS and Ronda (Paul) Berley of Omaha, NE, and extended family Chris (Alison) Holder, son Forest, Chelsea Mcnaughten and her daughter Ava, and Alesha Mcnaughten. He will be missed dearly by all of us. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger E. Schlax Sr. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 P.M.
