Robert Larry Bushong February 19, 1939 – August 24, 2019 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Robert Larry Bushong, son of the late Laura and John Bushong was born February 19, 1939, in Eastwood, Missouri. He departed this life on August 24, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, surrounded by family. Robert’s last words to his bride was “I love you and I’m going to be alright”. Robert graduated from Van Buren High School in 1957. He went to work as a dockhand in 1960 for East Texas Motor Freight which later became Arkansas Best Freight. He retired from there in 1991. On May 20, 1961, Robert married the love of his life, Edith Marie Lloyd and to this union 2 children were born, Tammy Heeb and Scott Bushong who reside in rural Wayne and Reynolds Counties. He was baptized October of 1964 in North Fork of Webb Creek. Robert was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Piedmont, Missouri. As a boy and young man, Robert tended to run wild on the banks of Carter Creek and Current River fishing and hunting squirrel and deer. His real hunting passion was for turkey. Robert loved turkey hunting and was always successful. The deer and turkey would be running rampant if not for this man. His favorite hunting was at “the Farm”. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Maxine Brame, Sharon Jordan, and Shirley Keeney-Polk. Robert is survived by his wife, Edith Bushong of 58 years, one daughter, Tammy Heeb and spouse Tab, one son, Scott Bushong and companion Brenda, two grandchildren, Zach Nelson and Brendan Deckard, one sister, Carol Freeze, and many nieces and nephews. Robert will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn his passing.
