Ricky Wayne Mayo August 18, 1958 – August 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Ricky Wayne Mayo, 60, peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was born in Quantico, VA on August 18, 1958, the second of four children born to the late Oliver T. Mayo, Sr. and Mable “Sue” Mayo. At an early age, Ricky accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He was educated in Portsmouth Public School System and graduated from Manor High School in 1977. He then joined the US Army and served until 1984. After military separation, Ricky worked for the US Government for over 30 years until he retired in 2014 Ricky was a man of few words but loved his family and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He always shared his vegetables with family and friends. Ricky leaves to cherish his memories a son, Ricardo Mayo of Alabama; three siblings: Oliver T. Mayo, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Michael L. Mayo (Lisa) of Richmond, VA and Sharon Mayo Mason (Jeff) of Richmond, VA; Aunts: JoAnn Beck (Terrance) of Stafford, VA, Teresa Mayo of Chesapeake, VA and Barbara Tankins of Triangle, VA; Uncles: Donald P. Mayo of New Kent, VA, Freddie D. Mayo (Pamela) of Portsmouth, VA and John W. Jones, Jr. (Jeanette) of Woodbridge, VA; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
