He was a native of Person County. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Winstead and Fannie Johnson Winstead; one sister, Mary Burton; and three brothers: Van Burton, Dallas Burton and William Burton. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Burton of the home; one daughter, Shemika Royster (Adrian) of Roxboro; five sisters: Ellen Louise Burton, Robin Burton, Virgie Chandler (Dean), Shelby Burton and Cynthia Burton, all of Roxboro; four brothers: Larry Burton (Clemetine) of Durham, NC, Ray Burton (Helen) and Johnny Burton (Brenda), both of Roxboro and Roy Burton (Arlene) of NY; three grandchildren: Kelvin Burton, Adrihana Royster and Shaun Royster, all of Roxboro; and a host of other additional relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at his home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
