Rev. James Joseph Quinn, a thirty-four year resident of Beacon and formerly of Newburgh, entered into rest Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his home. He was 86. Son of the late James Quinn and Helen Gill Southard, he was born December 15, 1932 in Brooklyn. He married the former Ines Lorenzi on June 4, 1955 in Seaford, New York. Mrs. Quinn survives at home in Beacon. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. James had worked at New York Central Railroad, New York Telephone Company and IBM. He was also an Assembly of God Minister and worked with many ministries including Walter Hoving Home, Newburgh Assembly of God as well as Faith Assembly of God. Jim loved the Lord and his family. He was also an avid Mets fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kevin P. Quinn and his wife, Joan Gibbons Quinn of Garden City, New York, Valerie Rossi and her husband, James Rossi of Wappingers Falls, Mary E. Benecasa and her husband, Joseph Benecasa of Lagrangeville, Brian M. Quinn and his wife, Anne Krieder Quinn of Arlington, Virginia, and Rev. Sean T. Quinn and his wife, Tiffany Pelkey Quinn of Barton, Vermont; his sixteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 9 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.
