Reta Wilson was born Reta D’Assisi in 1931, in Everett, MA. Her parents immigrated to the U.S. from Italy, in the early 1900’s. After high-school, Reta graduated from the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, with a degree in jewelry-smithing. Reta met Neville Wilson, the love of her life, in Rockport, MA in the early 1960’s. The two moved to Maine in 1970, and had one child, Cameron. Reta opened her own business in Kennebunkport, the Omega Jewelry Shop, shortly thereafter, and continued the business for over 30 years. After retirement, she continued to create and produce jewelry, by participating in local craft fairs. Reta was burdened by Alzheimer’s in her later years, but never lost her proud, independent spirit. She passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5th. She will be missed by many, including her son, Cameron; daughter in law, Jen; and her Grandchildren, Kiah, Zeke, and Gabe. As per her request, there will be no services. Reta’s ashes will be spread with those of her husband, who she has missed dearly since his passing in 2009. In lieu of flowers, please hug your loved ones, and make someone laugh.
