Raymond Conrad Purdom II was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on March 4th, 1957 to June (Hendrickson) and Conrad Purdom. Lacking the Hendrickson red hair his parents believed he would inherit, he was nick-named “Rocky” instead of “Rusty”, the name they had previously chosen. Rocky grew up in Pryor, Oklahoma, graduating from Pryor High School in 1975. Thereafter, he graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1981 with a degree in Animal Science. After working for Ralston Purina, Rocky and Conrad owned and operated a hog farm in Peggs, Oklahoma. Rocky then worked for Brown & Williamson Tobacco. While working for Brown & Williamson, Rocky would meet the love of his life, Linda Mapes. The two were married on April 19, 1991, and together would raise two children, son Trey, and daughter Clanci. For the next 20 years, Rocky owned two convenience stores in Haskell: Rascals 1 and 2. Following a short stint as the owner of a breakfast diner, he retired to his ranch where he raised cattle. Rocky enjoyed helping Clanci with her show pigs, and chasing Trey everywhere with his football, baseball, and basketball games. Rocky knew the lord, and attended Bended Knee Cowboy Church. He was predeceased in death by his father, Conrad, and father-in-law, Bob Mapes. He is survived by his wife Linda, mother June, mother-in-law Elizabeth Mapes, son Trey Purdom and fiancé Tamara Sanderson, daughter Clanci and Zane Yancy, grandchildren: Johnny and Eamonn Esmond, Dallas White, and Nixie Yancy, aunt Hazel Cagle, Brother-in-laws: Mike and Pearline Mapes, Steve and Debbie Mapes, and his beloved best friends Regan and Claudette Downing and their children Megan (Ethan) Cobble and Tyler (Malia) Downing, along with his special cousins: Debbie (John)Weber, Lynse (Charlie Robinson, Jeannie (Dennis) Goins, Virginia (Steve) Jennings and their families.
