Ms Gwendolyn Warren Summers June 24, 1951 – August 02, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation MS GWENDOLYN WARREN SUMMERS As we summit to the will of God, We say farewell to our beloved, Gwendolyn Warren Summers, Who departed this life on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Hospice and Pallative Care of Greensboro. Gwendolyn arrived to this life on June 24, 1951, in Greensboro, NC to the late Winfred Douglas and Ruth Vincent Warren. Better known as Gwen, she was also given other titles, such as, housewife, mother and friend to many. Gwen joined the Mount Zion AME Church and was active until advancing MS limited her to her home. She was educated in the Greensboro Public Schools, graduating from James B. Dudley High School. Gwen later received a certificate in Information Systems from Rutledge College. She leaves to cherish her memories, two children, her daughter April Matthews(Fred) of Greensboro; and her son, George Matthews(Manustella) also of Greensboro; four amazing grandchildren, George; Jordan; Auniyaa; and Wyntercynn; a devoted brother, Danny “Dee” Warren of Greensboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by a brother, Winfred Warren II; and a sister, Sandra K. Jones. Gwen actively participated in the ACE League, which is the Allen Christian Endeavour Church. This group of young ladies was responsible and dedicated to the cause of raising monies to help support the Mount Zion AME Church to grow its night ministry program. Gwen’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Mount Zion AME Church at 11:30 am with Reverend Henry Davis officiating and Reverend James Swain, Jr. delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral service at the church and all other times at the homeplace.
