Monte Ray Veeder Monte Ray Veeder, 65 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 surrounded by family. Monte was born October 7, 1953 in Kirksville to Virgil and Mary (Whitacre) Veeder. He married Connie Snow on May 19, 1974 and to this union two daughters were born. He is survived by: His parents, Virgil and Mary of Milan; two daughters, Angie Curtis and husband Marc of Milan and Sarah Nickell and husband Jeremy of Blue Springs; three grandchildren, Tyler Curtis, Payton Curtis, and Raylee Nickell; one sister, Cherie Smith of Milan; a special friend, Connie Veeder of Milan; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Monte was preceded in death by: Maternal grandparents, Willie and Wilmuth Whitacre; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Rena Veeder; three uncles, Leo Veeder, Mack Lee, and Bill Daharsh; and aunt, Marion Daharsh, and a brother-in-law, Butch Smith. Monte lived all his life in Milan, graduating from Milan C-II High School in 1973. He worked in maintenance at Con Agra where his nickname was “Chigger”. He also worked for Claude Hensley at the tractor shop, and helped his dad farm. Monte loved to work on vehicles and tractors, in his younger years he was known at “Carburetor Kid”. He also liked to go hunting, especially for quail. Monte enjoyed having breakfast with the guys at Kozy Korner and loved spending time with his family and grandkids. Funeral services for Monte will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Shatto Cemetery, west of Milan. A visitation is 1:00 PM until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri or the family.
