Michael “Maynard” DeWayne Lawson, 55, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on July 26, 2019 in Milton, Iowa. He was born July 13, 1964 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Francis DeWayne and Sheryl Kay Horn Lawson. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1982. On September 2, 1989 he married Pamela Lee Peck in Moulton, Iowa. The couple had a son, Shane. They would later divorce. He married Lori Downing on December 21, 2012 in Bloomfield. He had worked at Aliant Energy and Vermeer. Michael loved riding and working on motorcycles as well as going to bike rallies. He also enjoyed deer hunting, hanging out with his friends, and visiting family on Sundays. He is survived by his wife, Lori Lawson; son, Shane Lawson; two step-children, Cody Sickels, Shayala Sickels; parents, Dewayne and Sheryl Lawson; three sisters, Kimberly Cowger, Lisa (Mark) Cutler, Amy (Montie) Wuthrich; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flavy and Verna Lawson, Kermit and Mae Horn. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Darrell Zook officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to his family.
