Martha Hooper Smith, 73, of Holly Pond, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019. She was born January 20, 1946, to Mack Lemuel and Vernie Edna Haynes Hooper. Mrs. Smith was an industrial seamstress and worked for Lee Distribution before her retirement. She was a member of Redan Baptist Church and was also a member of the Holly Pond Homemakers Club. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother as well. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, Mack Lemuel and Vernie Edna Haynes Hooper and her beloved husband, Leon Smith. Survivors include, sons, Danny Leon (Lana) Smith, Jimmy Mack (Paige) Smith; granddaughters, Allie Smith, Velvie Smith; and her constant companion, her Boston Terrier, Skippy. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith are 12 noon, Monday, August 26, 2019, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, David Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, August 25, 2019, from 7 p.m., until 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Theresa Black and Shirley Talley for caring for Martha until the end. Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family.
