Marlon Jay Smith, 59, of Lapeer died Saturday, August 3, 2019. Marlon was born November 28, 1959 in Yale, Michigan to David and Doris (McClelland) Smith. He attended Lapeer West High School. Early on Marlon worked for Champion Motor Coach. He eventually found himself working in residential construction and made a successful career as a carpenter. Marlon absolutely loved deer hunting and golf. He was a very good cook and was known for delicious chili and fish. Above all, Marlon loved his family. Marlon is survived by his two children: Jamie (Rick) Medellin of Columbiaville and Marlon Smith, Jr. of Lapeer; two grandchildren: Alexander Medellin and Brenden Medellin; one great grandbaby, Bentley Medellin; siblings: Bob (Janice) Smith, Kevin (Julie) Smith, Terrie (Mike) Clark, Don (Diane) Smith, Dave (Dawn) Smith and Gerrie (Jack Scheifflee) Smith. Marlon is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Zdun and his aforementioned parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the family (checks payable to Marlon Smith, Jr. please). Visitation will be from 4-8PM Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Marlon’s funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Muir Brothers. Pastor Dennis Collins will officiate. Marlon’s family will receive friends from 1-2PM on Thursday.
