Marianne Dixon Scharrier stamped her unexpected ticket early August 24, 2019. To the many who were lucky to know and love her, the shock and sadness could be overwhelming. However, she leaves a legacy of laughter, love, music, uniforms, laundry, memories and cats. To say that she LOVED cats was an understatement. The cutest “Gerber looking baby” was born March 11, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the 4th child of Glen and Sylvia Dixon. The 4 siblings shared a lifetime of antics and are surely rejoicing to be reuniting the band. A few of her a.k.a names consisted of Hasbro, Rhoda Jane and Little Fat Mineral. Some of her fondest memories were those at Highland High School singing in “The Carolyn Trio”. She had a beautiful alto voice and music was one of the most important things in her life. Her family was all about music! Marianne absolutely loved her country, anything military and uniforms, (especially men in uniform). She attended the University of Utah while marrying Bob VanIeperen, later divorced. She later met her eternal companion, Ted Walter Scharrier and had two children, Missy and Anthony. Ted and Marianne loved dancing together. She later enjoyed accompanying him on business sales trips, often to St. George, where Ted’s dream of retiring to St. George became a reality in 1995, much to her chagrin. Surprisingly, Marianne never wanted to leave Southern Utah again. She was the best Mom and homemaker in the world! She was the Queen of Laundry and made every single article of clothing look brand new. Ironing was like a prestigious hobby for Marianne. She created a magical childhood for her children filled with love notes in lunches and lavish holidays that we will cherish forever. A new career started her working for the Fire Marshall and the Department of Corrections for the State of Utah. Marianne proudly served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Beehive Clothing in St. George. She also served and enjoyed various positions in The Church. She loved studying medicine and always aspired to be a nurse. She loved serving and taking care of others, often before herself. She was admired and loved by so many. She desired to be Christ-like and see everyone the same. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Volunteering was at the top of her favorites list. She volunteered throughout her life at schools, Assisted Living Centers and especially at Dixie Regional Medical Center and in the general community. Marianne loved puzzles, smiling, the sound of laughter and country music. Her example of love and acceptance will be our guide. Survivors include children, Missy (Scott) Riffle, Anthony (Salina), Scharrier, Michelle (Craig) Hollis, Scott (Karen) Harris, Lisa (David) Jones, sisters in-law Susan Dixon and Esther Fors, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with two more on the way and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dennis, David, sister, Carolyn, and sister in-law, Sue Blank. A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main in Bountiful. Funeral Services will held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, with a viewing from 12:30 -1:30 pm. Interment Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, UT.
