Mabel D. Rush 98 of McLeansboro, passed away Sunday evening August 11, 2019 at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Home. She was born October 17, 1920 in Es, MO the daughter of Joseph and Hallie (Lewis) Gaines. She married John Rush, Jr., on July 13, 1939 in Kentucky and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1989. Mabel and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Springerton for 20 years. She loved doing puzzles and reading and was a member of the Springerton Christian Church. She is survived by her son, Ron (Lew Jean) Rush; daughters, Mae Becker and Rebecca Rush; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Louise Fortier. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, John Rush III and brothers, Leroy Lewis and C.A. Reak. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday August 16, 2019 at the Springerton Christian Church with Ron Lamp and Curt Rush officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services.
