Luella’s Obituary Luella Mae Evans, 89, passed away at home on August 4, 2019. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Luella was born May 2, 1930 in Christian County, Prairieton Township in Illinois and graduated from Moweaqua High School. She worked for Sears & Roebuck in Decatur, IL, as a window decorator after high school. She married Charles S. Evans, Sr. April 26, 1953. They were co-owners of Modern Home Cleaners when first married. Luella was a talented seamstress working from home for many years. She took care of her aging mother & father, mother-in-law, handicapped son David, aging great uncle Henry and cousin Marie in their times of need. Luella researched genealogy on her side of the family and her husband’s side and published books from her findings. One great discovery she found was that her father’s side is related to Abraham Lincoln through two female cousins who married into the Hanks family, (Abraham’s mother’s side). Luella was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolutionary War. Surviving is her daughter, Mary Lou Evans Elmore and husband, Tim of N. Carolina; son, Charles S. Evans Jr. of Farina, IL; eight grandchildren; seventeen great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Evans Sr.; son, David W. Evans; parents, Willard & Sarah Rape; and daughter-in-law, Dawn Evans. Read More
