Louise Marie Potter, 86 of Charlevoix, passed away August 15, 2019 at home. She was born January 14, 1933 in Atwood the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Vandenberg) Heeres. On March 30, 1951 she married Archie J. Potter. They made their home in Marion Township where they engaged in farming. Louise was a loving mother, grandmother and proud farmer’s wife. She enjoyed baking cookies and attending her flower gardens. She also enjoyed sending cards to all her family and friends. Louise was a member of the Barnard United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the United Methodist’s Women’s group and very involved in all aspects of the church. She loved teaching Sunday school for many years. Surviving are her children Judi Hewitt of East Jordan, James Potter of Charlevoix, Joanne (Randy) Cebulski of Charlevoix, Janet (Jerry) VanStedum of Greenville, Joyce (Curt) Lorenz of Whitehall, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, brother Marvin (Charlotte) Heeres of Ellsworth, sisters Esther (Dick) Joliffe of Charlevoix, Janice Hartman of Richland, and sister in-law Carol Heeres of Ellsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie in 2008, her brothers Bob and Harold Heeres, sister Eleanor Holecheck and son in-law David Hewitt. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 18th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ellsworth Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 19, at 11 a.m. at the Barnard United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow in Barnard Cemetery.
