Lorene Francis, 74, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on August 14, 2019 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born February 6, 1945 southeast of Cantril, Iowa to Johnny O. and Betty Hobbs Nicoli. She married Jerry Francis on February 27, 1960 in Drakesville, Iowa. Jerry passed away on April 6, 2004. Lorene worked at Knock-on-Wood in Bloomfield, Bloomfield Livestock, and cleaned houses for many people. She was also caregiver for Jerry and later her son, Jamie. She enjoyed gardening, mowing her yard, going fishing, and playing BINGO at the Davis County Fair. She loved being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended church at the Word of Life Fellowship in Bloomfield. She is survived by four sons, James Francis, Jack Francis, John (Neila) Francis, Jeremie (Rebecca) Francis all of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Adeline and Jeremiah Francis; three step-grandchildren, Blake Deevers, Joseph Myers, Aliya Myers; two sisters, Laurell (Orland) Weatherington of Milton, Iowa, Betty Ann (Russell) Woolums of Smithville, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter; and brother, William “Bill” Nicoli. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will be at the Troy Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to her family.
