Lita Opheim, 71, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, August 24, 2019, at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was born October 12, 1947 to Isabello and Romana (Montances) Libanan in Cebu, Philippines. She was united in marriage to Arthuro Samantos and they later divorced. She was later united in marriage to David Opheim in 1974 in the Philippines. They moved to Hawaii in 1979. After David retired from the military they moved to San Diego. Lita and David later divorced. She was united in marriage to Bill Paxton and later divorced. She moved to Iowa in 1997 to be near her family and help raise her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to the Philippines, pottery, cross stitching, crocheting, ceramics, taking trips to the casino and teaching people to drive. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Danillo Libanan of Oskaloosa, Roberto Libanan of the Philippines, Pacifico (luzviminda) Libanan of Las Vegas, NV, Raquel Ramenez of Oskaloosa, Bobby (Jane) Opheim of Oskaloosa, Lewis Opheim (Taelor Huffman) of Oskaloosa and David Opheim Jr. of Oskaloosa; 20 grandchildren, Storm Cristobal, Cailin Cristobal, R.J. Ramirez, Vincent Ramirez, Jennifer Book, Jessica Opheim, Jessabelle Opheim, Bobby Ikaika Opheim, Disiree Opheim, Caleb Opheim, Emersyn Opheim, Jake Libanan, Rowena Libanan, Billoy Libanan, Sam Libanan, Shelia Libanan, Patrick Libanan, Patrick Libanan, Phillip Libanan, Hazel Libanan and Paul Libanan. She is also survived by one great granddaughter, Nalaia. Lita was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Conrado Libanan and a daughter in law, Laura Libanan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in the Old White Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2019 in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present at the funeral chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday evening to greet friends and relatives.
