Lillie’s Obituary On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Lillie Virginia Wood Shuffield, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away at the age of 75. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. Virginia was born on January 15, 1944 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to Sterling and Laura Wood. She attended Dollarway High School. On March 21, 1960, she married Raymond Wayford Gregory. Together they raised three daughters, Jackie, Sherry & Cathy until his death in 1975. On September 5, 1979 Virginia married AT Shuffield who also had 2 sons Alan and Patrick. We have all remained a close family to this day thanks to the loving nature of this beautiful woman. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Spending weeks at a time, all over the states on family vacations and spending time with her “Golden Girls”. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her always kind and compassionate heart. Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Sterling and her mother, Laura, her brother Charles and her sister Linda. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Jackie and granddaughter Heather. She is survived by her children Sherry Kleinmeyer, Cathy Walton, Alan Shuffield and Patrick Shuffield; grandchildren, Cari, Cody, Kyle, Lindsey, Kelsey, Taylor, Cody Taylor, and Clayton; brothers, Jack Wood and Dewayne Wood; and also by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family has designated St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for memorial contributions. Read More
