LeRoy “Lee”‘s Obituary LeRoy “Lee” Ray Schocker Jr, 52 of Devils Lake formerly of Boise, Idaho passed away on July 27, 2019 in Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Lee will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Tom Westcott officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team-Navy. Lee was born on August 18, 1966 in Austin MN to LeRoy and Diane (Baxter) Schocker. He grew up in Devils Lake and attended Devils Lake High School however joined the United States Navy on October 28, 1983 and completed his GED while underway in the Persian Gulf. Lee served aboard the USS Okinawa LPH-3 as a Storekeeper 3nd Class in the Supply Department, served on the Flying Squad Team and earned a Service Deployment Ribbon with one Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged on October 27, 1988 then served with the Navy Reserve in Portland Oregon. Lee was united in marriage with Tracey-Lynn M. Uphill in 1990. They later established their home in Boise Idaho in 1996 where Lee worked for many years with SPI. Lee and Tracey-Lynn welcomed their daughter Kara-Lee in 2000. In Lee’s leisure time he loved working with wood and created several memorable pieces, enjoyed golfing, the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. He was a dedicated Minnesota Vikings fan and proclaimed goosebumps for the 2019 season. In 2013 Lee moved back to the Mid-West where he worked various jobs and made several new friends. Lee loved his daughter with his whole heart and was so proud of her, he called her his greatest accomplishment. Lee is survived by his daughter Kara-Lee Schocker of Boise Idaho; mother Diane Schocker of Devils Lake; sister Shon M Lewis of Devils Lake and brother Tony F Schocker of Flora Illinois. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William & Edith Schocker of Austin MN and Floyd & Edith Baxter of Austin MN. Read More
