Leonard’s Obituary Sioux Falls, SD ~ Leonard “Lenny” Sweet, age 79, died on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Faith Baptist Fellowship Church in Sioux Falls, SD. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation to Lenny’s family. Leonard Daryl “Lenny” Sweet, was born on January 2, 1940 to Lorenzo and Gertrude (Sasse) Sweet. Lenny attended and was Baptized at Central Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, SD. He also attended as an adult and helped with bus ministries, sang in the choir and was part of many other church activities for many years. Later on, in life, Lenny alongside his sister, joined Faith Baptist Fellowship Church in Sioux Falls, where Lenny continued helping with many children’s groups, sang in the choir, and on worship teams; ushered and was always available and happy to volunteer with church needs. He also attended many mission trips with the church. Lenny had a passion for sports (football, basketball and baseball) both watching and card collecting. Lenny had multiple card albums to show for it. He loved riding his bicycle and had ridden over 11,000 miles around Sioux Falls. This led him to volunteering with the Sioux Falls Police Department patrolling the bike paths for many years. Lenny also enjoyed volunteering at the Good Samaritan Society on North Minnesota Avenue and the Washington Pavilion. Lenny was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Connie. Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Jeanne Simunek of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Philip Sweet of Pinehurst, NC; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Read More
