Laura Edna Gibson, age 89 of 179 Combs Street, Sparta, NC passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Genesis Healthcare in Sparta, NC. She was born July 24, 1930 in Alleghany County to the late Charlie and Nelia Delp Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant brother. Laura was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. She was an achiever in school. She is survived by five first cousins, Evalena D. Cox and husband John R. of Sparta, Carlene Blevins and husband Gene of Sparta, Shirley Rector and husband Cliff of Piney Creek, Linda Huff of Sparta, Joe Allen Delp of Sparta, and Pauline Lowe of Lowgap; other cousins also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the graveside service to honor the life of Laura at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Elk Creek Cemetery with Brother Ed Hall and Brother Hugh Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice of Elkin, 688 North Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.
