Josephine Margaret Grothe, 76, of Iowa Falls Iowa passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Mercy Neuro Trauma Unit in Des Moines, Iowa. The Linn’s Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements. Funeral services for Josephine Grothe will be 10:30 am Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Iowa Falls Congregation; 122 Georgetown Road; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Visitation for Josephine will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel; 1521 Washington Avenue; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. For further information, please visit linnsfuneralhome.com. Josephine Margaret Fank was born August 3, 1943 in Forest City, Iowa to Joseph Charles and Margaret Janice [Bartelson] Fank. She attended the Iowa Falls School district, graduating from Iowa Falls High School. She was united in marriage to James Anthony Grothe on August 25, 1962 in Forest City, Iowa. To this union six children were born: Margaret, Janice, Anthony, Joseph, Rebecca, and Sarah. During her life she worked with her family owned painting business, and worked at the Red Rooster, and the Iowa Falls School District as a cook and doing the laundry. Josephine loved to quilt and sew, and loved cooking and entertaining friends and family. She would also spend her free time gardening and canning her harvest. Josephine Margaret Grothe is survived by her husband: James Grothe of Iowa Falls, Iowa; four daughters and daughter-in-law: Margaret McLeod of Caroll, Iowa, Janice [Gary] Hanson of Hastings, Minnesota, Sherry Grothe of Westside, Iowa; Rebecca [David] Bauer of Hastings, and Sarah Knowles of Lake Mills, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters: Lula Ann Ringham of Punta Gorda, Florida, John [Sharon] Fank of Garner, Iowa, James L. [Jolene] Fank of Mason Mason City, Iowa Susan [Mark] Pleva of Woodward, Iowa, Barbara [Byron] Ruiter of Forest City, and Patricia Lien of Hutchinson, Minnesota.
