Jon M. Schwaner, aged 79, of Greenwood passed away at his home Sunday, August 25, 2019. Jon was born August 23, 1940 in Harford City, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Gladys (nee Frederick) Schwaner, spouse Bonnie (nee Baumgartner) Schwaner, son S. Scott Schwaner, grandson Timothy Schwaner Edwards and brother Fred Schwaner. He is survived by his spouse Linda (nee Graham) Schwaner, daughters Lori (Cary) Lucas, Sara (Keith) Lambert, Deborah (Joseph) Winterhalter, and Cassandra (Derek) Schaefer. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Marillyn Gwinn, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many other loved ones and friends. Jon graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Industrial Design. He was employed as a Packaging Design Engineer and retired from the Inland Container Corporation after serving nearly forty years there. He was proud to be awarded 8 American and 1 Canadian patents for his design work. Jon was also proud to serve his country and spent six years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves where he cooked for the troops. In his free time, Jon was an avid fisherman, enjoyed time at Lake Lasalle, engaged in internet chatting and game playing, was a fan of local sports teams, and excelled at making art. He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful paintings, drawings, and hand-made models. Jon was known by all to have a big heart, quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humor. He spent his final days sharing love and laughing with his family a few last times. Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
