Johnnie Walter Adams, 70, of Charlotte passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. He was born on January 7, 1949 in York, SC to the late James and Gladys Blackwelder Adams. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanila Adams Weber; son, James Walter Barnhill; sister, Margaret Locklear; and brother, Mike Adams. Johnnie loved being a mechanic especially working on older cars and lawn mowers. He enjoyed fishing especially deep sea fishing. He also enjoyed golfing. But most of all, Johnnie loved being with his grandchildren and his friends. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Adams; Children, Crystal Scott and husband Bobby, Angel Cureton and husband Ricky, Kim Roberts (Johnny Ray); Nikki Warren and husband Matt, Chris Warren, and Jonathan Barnhill and wife Amy; brother, James Adams, 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dennis Cook and Sly White. A memorial service to celebrate Johnnie’s life will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Rev. Randolph Robinson officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
