Johnathan “John” Hardy Corkern, 57, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at his home in Raymond. A memorial service will be held to celebrate John’s life on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Visitation will be 1-2pm Friday. John was a lifelong resident of the South Jackson/Byram area. He was owner/operator of Corkern Safe & Lock for over 35 years. John enjoyed racing, bass fishing and music, especially playing the drums. He was a wonderful, loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Corkern and brother, Joel Corkern. Survivors include his mother, Cynthia Corkern of Jackson; sons, Derek Corkern of Madison, Daniel Corkern (Kristin) of Florence and Ben Corkern of Yazoo City; daughter, Kristen Corkern of Madison; brothers, Jeff Corkern of Baton Rouge, LA and Jordan Corkern of Anaheim, CA; grandchild, Casey Corkern; good friend and care giver, Jamie Welch; mother of his children, Tammy Corkern and his two loving cats, “Tigger” and “Prissy”.
